Notice of Election

WHERE TO VOTE

Haywood County will conduct a State Primary and County General Election on Thursday, August 4, 2022, for the following offices:

State Primary:  Governor, US Representative – 8th Congressional District, TN State Representative – 80th House District, TN State Representative – 81st House District, State Executive Committeeman/woman

County General: Circuit Court Clerk, County Clerk, County Mayor, Register of Deeds, Sheriff, Trustee, All County Commissioners: Districts 1 – 10 (2 positions per district), All Constables: Districts 1 – 10 (1 position per district), Road Commissioner: Districts 3 & 7 (1 position), and Districts 8 & 9 (1 position); School Board Member: Districts 1 & 5 (1 position), Districts 3 & 7 (1 position) and Districts 8 & 9 (1 position)

Petitions may be picked up from the Haywood County Election Commission Office on the lower level of the Courthouse in Brownsville during regular business hours Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.(Closed for lunch 11:30 – 12:30, unless posted otherwise).

CANDIDATES FOR SHERIFF: March 24, 2022 is the filing deadline at POST for affidavit and supporting documents.

SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES must provide documentation by NOON April 7th, 2022 of high school graduation or GED.

CONSTABLE CANDIDATES are required to file the constable affidavit provided by the election office by NOON April 7th, 2022.

The deadline to file the qualifying petition is 12 NOON on Thursday, April 7, 2022.

ACCESSIBILITY NOTICE: Disabled and/or elderly persons who believe that their polling places are inaccessible are encouraged to vote early or may vote at the Election Commission Office on Election Day.  Voters who intend to vote at the Election Commission Office on Election Day must notify the commission in writing no later than July 25, 2022.

PHOTO ID LAW: Federal or Tennessee state government issued photo ID is required to vote in person, unless an exception applies.  College student IDs will not be accepted.  To learn more about the law and its exceptions, please call 731-772-1760 or visit, haywoodvotes.com or GoVoteTN.com

ABSENTEE BY MAIL REQUESTS: A written request to vote Absentee by Mail in this election may be received beginning May 6, 2022 and no later than July 28, 2022. For more information, please contact the Election Office at 731-772-1760. (The office will be closed on Good Friday, April 15, 2022)

ONLINE VOTER REGISTRATION: The Tennessee Online Voter Registration System offers a convenient way for voters to easily register or change their address if they have moved. The system allows U.S. citizens with a driver’s license or photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security to register to vote online or update their voter registration online.
