Notice of Election
Haywood County will conduct a County General Election
and State Primary Election on
Thursday, August 4, 2016, for the following offices:
State Primary: US Representative – 8th Congressional District; TN State Representative -82nd House District; TN State Senator – 26th Senate District
County General: Property Assessor; Road Commissioner (3 positions) Districts 1 & 5, Districts 2 & 6, Districts 4 & 10; School Board Members (2 positions) Districts 2 & 6, Districts 4 & 10; Constable (2 positions) District 2 and District 8
Petitions may be picked up from the Haywood County Election Commission Office on the lower level of the Courthouse in Brownsville during regular business hours Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
(Closed for lunch 11:30 – 12:30, unless posted otherwise). The Haywood County Election Commission will be closed on Friday, March 25, 2016 for the Good Friday Holiday.
The deadline to file the qualifying petition is 12 noon on Thursday, April 7, 2016.
School board candidates must provide documentation
of high school graduation or GED by the April 7th deadline.
Constable candidates are required to file
an affidavit provided by the election office by the April 7th deadline.
Disabled and/or elderly persons who believe that their polling places are inaccessible are encouraged to vote early or may vote at the Election Commission Office on Election Day. Voters who intend to vote at the Election Commission Office on Election Day must notify the commission in writing no later than July 25, 2016.
PHOTO ID LAW
Voters who vote in person during early voting or on Election Day must present a photo ID issued by the
federal government or Tennessee state government. These IDs may be current or expired.
